Sony Music artists win at the 2020 Grammy Awards
The 62nd Grammy Awards took place last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with Sony Music artists picking up multiple accolades.
Koffee won Best Reggae Album for her critically-acclaimed debut EP Rapture, making history as the youngest artist ever to win the award.
Lil Nas X also had a successful night, picking up Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for ‘Old Town Road’ (remix) featuring Billy Ray Cyrus. The duo took to the Grammy’s stage for a performance of the track, with special guests including BTS, Mason Ramsey and Diplo. Lil Nas X went on to perform ‘Rodeo’ – another track from his 7 EP – accompanied by his namesake, Nas.
Other winners included Tyler, the Creator, who won Best Rap Album for IGOR. He gave a high-octane performance of ‘New Magic Wand’, featuring album collaborator Charlie Wilson.
In the Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album category, Rosalía picked up the award for her record El Mal Querer. She delivered a stunning flamenco-inspired performance of her tracks ‘Juro Que’ and ‘Malamente’.
Beyoncé picked up Best Music Film for Homecoming, a film which presented an intimate look at her historic 2018 Coachella performance.
DJ Khaled was awarded Best Rap/Sung Performance for ‘Higher’, featuring John Legend and the late Nipsey Hussle. Joining forces with guest performers Meek Mill, Kirk Franklin, Roddy Rich and YG, DJ Khaled and Legend led a tribute to Nipsey that culminated in a performance of the track.
In the Best Rap Song category, 21 Savage received the award for ‘A Lot’ ft. J. Cole – marking his first ever Grammy win.
Vampire Weekend won Best Alternative Album for Father of the Bride, while Cage The Elephant were awarded Best Rock Album for Social Cues.
