Robbie Williams’ new album debuts at No.1 and breaks UK chart record

Robbie Williams’ album The Heavy Entertainment Show has debuted at number 1 today, making UK chart history.

The album is Robbie’s 12th UK solo number 1, the highest number ever for a UK solo artist. This remarkable achievement also gives Robbie the second most No.1s for studio albums in UK chart history, behind only The Beatles.

Robbie said, “I’m chuffed that this album is number 1 and I’m humbled by these amazing statistics and facts. Thank you to the wonderful, wonderful team at Sony. I’m as proud of this album as much as any other, and hope that the fans enjoy it as much as I loved making it…this is for the friendlies. I’m very excited to be taking The Heavy Entertainment show on tour next year.”

The Heavy Entertainment Show is Robbie’s first album on Sony Music UK.

Jason Iley, Chairman and CEO, Sony Music UK and Ireland, said, “everyone at Sony feels incredibly privileged and fortunate to be working with Robbie as well as playing a part in helping him to make history. It’s an amazing achievement for Robbie which is hugely deserved.”

This tops off an incredible week for Robbie after he was honoured with the BRITs Icon Award, joining Sir Elton John and the late David Bowie in receiving the accolade.
