Random Access Memories – Album of the Summer
Since its release in May, Daft Punk’s fourth studio album ‘Random Access Memories’ has, it would seem, entered the consciousness of music fans across the world and become the international sound of the summer.
Featuring collaborations with Giorgio Moroder, Panda Bear, Julian Casablancas, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Chilly Gonzales, Paul Williams, Pharrell Williams and, of course, the legendary Nile Rodgers, the album sold 165,091 copies in its first week in the UK and entered the Album Chart at number 1, a feat repeated in markets across the world including the US, Canada, Australia, France and pretty much every country in Europe.
The first single from the album, ‘Get Lucky’ featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, has reached the top ten in the music charts of over 32 countries, and has sold more than 7 million copies. The second single from the album, ‘Lose Yourself to Dance’, is released on 13th August.
