J Hus and JAE5 win at the 2020 GRM Daily Rated Awards

J Hus has been honoured at the GRM Daily Rated Awards, winning Album of the Year for his No.1 record Big Conspiracy.

The awards show, now in its fifth year, celebrates the best of Black British music. The winners were announced via a virtual ceremony – hosted by Mo Gilligan and Julie Adenuga – which was exclusively streamed on YouTube and RatedAwards.com.

In his acceptance speech, J Hus paid tribute to his fans and everyone who contributed to the album, which was released via Black Butter Records in January. “So much hard work, so much effort, blood, sweat and tears. I love you so much, thank you.”

Adenuga said J Hus’s win was down to his originality. “As someone who has probably listened to more music in the last 10 years than I can remember, I’m always excited about the people that are doing something different, unique and authentic. You can’t buy that, no amount of clout or money can create that. I hope Hus continues to deliver in the way he has.”

The executive producer of Big Conspiracy, Black Butter’s JAE5 – also known for his work with Mark Ronson, Dave, Burna Boy and Jess Glynne – was named Producer of the Year.

“Thank you to all the fans, thank you to the team, thank you to everyone that’s played a part in getting us this far,” he said. “I really appreciate it, let’s keep it moving.”

The full show is available to watch on YouTube and at RatedAwards.com.
